About This Course:

This course is one of the 5 courses of an introductory business information systems series, designed to introduce you to the amazing world of Information Technology.

The series of courses is designed so that a professional in a field outside the information technologies (financial, administrative or managerial) acquires the basic knowledge in Information Technology to be able to interact more profitably with the computer and telecommunications specialists of your company or other corporations with which you are related, being able to specify requirements, evaluate workloads and monitor results in a much more effective way.

The syllabus of the series is based on the CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications exam.

In this course, you will learn the basic concepts of information systems and their application.

By completing the series of 5 courses, you will be prepared to interact effectively with specialists in the Information Technology sector (and pass the CLEP ISCA exam if you wish

Full Professor of Computer Sciences at Universitat Politècnica de Valencia
Dr. Vicent Botti Navarro holds a position of Full Professor of Computer Sciences at the Universitat Politècnica de València where he has been teaching since 1984. Professor Botti is Head of Grupo de Tecnología Informática-Inteligencia Artificial and Vice-Rector for the Development of ITC Technologies, leading UPValenciaX and UPV[X] MOOC initiatives. He was member of the Board of the Spanish Association on Artificial Intelligence and he was awarded the 2005 Prize of Research of the Spanish Association on Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA).

He is the UPV MOOC initiative coordinator, teaches Airport engineering in the Aerospatial BS degree and Information technology courses for teachers and administrative staff of the University.

Miguel Rebollo

Dr. Miguel Rebollo received his PhD from Universitat Poltècnica de València, where he teaches Introduction to Information Technology and Information agents for the semantic web. His main research interest is service-oriented multiagent systems and he is also actively involved in using social networks and electronic porfolios in engineering education. --- Miguel Rebollo es doctor por la Universitat Politécnica de València, donde enseña Introducción a la Tecnología de la Información y agentes de información para la web semántica. Su principal línea de investigación se basa en los sistemas multiagentes orientados a los servicios, aunque también está muy implicado en el uso de las redes sociales y los portafolios electrónicos en la educación en ingeniería.
